The Mike Chavers Band
Mike Chavers has been playing around the Tampa Bay area for the last 20 years. He has preformed & recorded with some of the best blues men from the area like Sarasota Slim, Tommy McCoy, Jimmy Grizwald, Charlie Morris, T C Carr and many more.
Mike is originally from Niagara Falls, NY. He started traveling with tour bands in the early 70’s and moved to N.Y. City in 1976 and started writing and performing in the New York original showcase circuit.
Mike’s band named Sweetwater was playing at The Apollo Theater, The Other End, Kenny’s Castaway, and the Bottom Line. Mike started working with Jimmy Norman who wrote Time is On My Side – The Rolling Stones. Mike also hooked up With Carl Gardner the founder of the Coasters and worked with them for 6 years. After moving to St Petersburg Mike met Joey D – The Peppermint Twist and toured with Joey for 2 years.
Now Mike’s band plays a unique mix of blues, soul and roots music. In the bands show you can hear anything from Louie Jordan, Muddy Water, & Johnny Cash to Louie Prima, Wilson Pickett & The Rolling Stones.
Also in the band are Glenn Evans and Josh Nelms. Glenn Evans Since his move to Florida, he has played and recorded with most major blues acts in the Florida regional area. These acts include Sarasota Slim, Ronnie Earle, Rock Bottom, Roy Book Binder, TC Carr, Anson Funder burgh & Sam Myers, Diz Watson, Johnny "Clyde" Copeland, The Rhythm Revue, Wendy & the Soulshakers, Lucky Peterson, Birddog Bobby, Vidar Busk to name only a few. Glenn also led the highly successful surf band THE HODADS and recorded and produced their critically acclaimed CD release THE HODADS – Total Surf in 1998.
Josh Nelms is a firey guitarst and will shred and barbeque the music and serve it up with a special sauce that will delite everyone.
